The theme of the 31st Annual Chester County Antiques Show \u201cArchitectural Elements in Furniture\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cArchitectural Elements in Furniture\u201d will provide the theme of the 31st<\/sup>Annual Chester County Antiques Show, and organizers hope local residents and architectural students will mark their calendars.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s show, presented by PECO, will run April 5-7 at its new location: the Phelps School in Malvern. Visitors are urged to spend the day observing history through antiques from dealers across the country and then explore the shops and restaurants of Malvern, another historic resource.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s featured speakers will be Brock Jobe, professor of American decorative arts at Winterthur Museum, and John Milner, fellow of the American Institute of Architects.<\/p>\n

Brock Jobe, a Winterthur professor, will lecture on \u201cElements of Architecture in Furniture.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Jobe, who also teaches at the University of Delaware\u2019s Center for Material Culture Studies, has worked as a museum curator and administrator at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities. He has published and edited many works on early American furniture, including\u00a0Harbor & Home: Furniture of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1710\u20131850,<\/i>\u00a0which won the 2009 Book Prize from Historic New England.\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0His lecture, \u201cElements of Architecture in Furniture,\u201d will be held at 1 p.m. on April 6.<\/p>\n

John Milner, an architect known for his historic restoration work, will be one of the featured speakers.<\/p><\/div>\n

John Milner, well-known regionally for his work on the restoration of historic buildings and the design of new buildings that pay homage to history, works in the field of historic preservation. For over 30 years, Milner has been an adjunct professor of architecture in the University of Pennsylvania\u2019s School of Design. He will be lecturing on \u201cRestoration: The Process of Discovery\u201d at 3 p.m. on April 6.<\/p>\n

A Preview Party for the show will be held on Friday, April 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. It provides an early look at the event\u2019s displays while enjoying fine fare and meeting the vendors, as well as the Historical Society\u2019s Board of Trustees and other supporters, such as Betty Moran. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n
