Visitors are urged to spend the day observing history through antiques from dealers across the country and then explore the shops and restaurants of Malvern, another historic resource.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s featured speakers will be Brock Jobe, professor of American decorative arts at Winterthur Museum, and John Milner, fellow of the American Institute of Architects.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6333\" style=\"width: 139px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6333\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6333 \" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Brock Jobe, a Winterthur professor, will lecture on \u201cElements of Architecture in Furniture.\u201d\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Image.jpg\" width=\"129\" height=\"126\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6333\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brock Jobe, a Winterthur professor, will lecture on \u201cElements of Architecture in Furniture.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jobe, who also teaches at the University of Delaware\u2019s Center for Material Culture Studies, has worked as a museum curator and administrator at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Colonial Williamsburg, and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities. He has published and edited many works on early American furniture, including\u00a0<i>Harbor &amp; Home: Furniture of Southeastern Massachusetts, 1710\u20131850,<\/i>\u00a0which won the 2009 Book Prize from Historic New England.<i>\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0His lecture, \u201cElements of Architecture in Furniture,\u201d will be held at 1 p.m. on April 6.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6334\" style=\"width: 136px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Image-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6334\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6334 \" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"John Milner, an architect known for his historic restoration work, will be one of the featured speakers.\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Image-12.jpg\" width=\"126\" height=\"124\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6334\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Milner, an architect known for his historic restoration work, will be one of the featured speakers.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>John Milner, well-known regionally for his work on the restoration of historic buildings and the design of new buildings that pay homage to history, works in the field of historic preservation. For over 30 years, Milner has been an adjunct professor of architecture in the University of Pennsylvania\u2019s School of Design. He will be lecturing on \u201cRestoration: The Process of Discovery\u201d at 3 p.m. on April 6.<\/p>\n<p>A Preview Party for the show will be held on Friday, April 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. It provides an early look at the event\u2019s displays while enjoying fine fare and meeting the vendors, as well as the Historical Society\u2019s Board of Trustees and other supporters, such as Betty Moran. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Chester County Historical Society is a not-for-profit educational institution whose mission is to promote an understanding of the history of Chester County and southeastern Pennsylvania by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting that history and its relationship to the region, and nation beyond, to audiences of all ages and interests.
